Typical Summer Alexander Technique Workshop

The daily schedule provides each participant with a variety of learning and experiencing opportunities. Once you arrive, you will be assigned to a mentor teacher, and will have group sessions with different faculty members. Your private lesson will also be scheduled once the Institute begins. A schedule, with location, for each class and activity will also be posted.

7:00 - 8:00 Breakfast
8:00 - 8:30 Tai Chi with Stacy. Optional
8:45 - 9:00 Warm-ups for everyone
9:00 - 9:30


9:45 - 11:55 Three rotations, changing every 40 minutes, for working in small groups
Noon - 2:00 Lunch at the Campus Center, Break
2:00 - 2:30 Mentor Groups: meet with the same teacher, everyday of the workshop to ask questions, clarify understandings, and develop deeper friendships
2:45 - 3:45 Presentations, Activities, and Performance at Performance Hall
Time for special presentations, interests. Teachers rotate and facilitate this time.
4:00 - 5:00 Awareness Through Movement with Nancy. Optional
5:00 - 6:00 Dinner
7:30 - Evening event, ranging from performances to the annual favorite No Talent Show.
As you can see, the schedule is very full. Please note that not everybody goes to every session. Although free time is built into the schedule, sometimes you may feel the need to take a mid-day nap or a walk around the beautiful campus! The core of the Alexander Technique teaching occurs during the morning hours and the afternoon Mentor Group classes.
